This homely café injects a rustic sweetness and sophistication into Camden Town. A glass counter is piled high with delectable own-made cakes and deep dishes of comfort food, and you'll struggle to find better coffee locally. We enjoyed a huge slice of piping-hot chicken and mushroom pie packed with tender meat and chunky vegetables, and a mammoth portion of spinach lasagne; both came with fresh, imaginative salads. You can dine at artfully distressed wooden tables at the rear, the white walls flickering with shadows cast by candles and the roaring open fire, but there are also two other floors, the uppermost with a superbly intimate balcony terrace.
