booking up for sumer festivals and with a rapturous response at Koko Club last week they will have you humming their future hits for weeks after
"PIPPA MARIAS sounds like Zdar/Cassius/Phoenix style french dance pop, but with more of an edge. Then you realise it’s because they’re Swedish,
and as we all know, the Swedes OWN good dance inflected pop music" - Gill Mills, Best of MySpace
PORTASOUND
As a 3 piece they were championed across the country by John Kennedy, Rob da Bank, Tom Robinson and Huw Stephens who, after hearing their remix of Late of the Pier, invited them to Maida Vale for an exclusive BBC Radio 1 Introducing session. Gathering blog hype from their singles and love for their live shows they were soon playing the length of country and beyond. From London’s club scene to a host of festivals including Secret Garden Party, SWN, Sheffield Tramlines and Standon Calling . their debut Album is Imminent and they are coming out of their bunker just for this gig!
STEALING SHEEP
alot of buzz for this three-girl piece from the UK. Hypnotic boomy beats, intelligent rhythmic patterns, bassy pitch shifting synth and off kilter psychedelic guitars. too good for the Crawl with its hoi polloi !
In less fertile grounds, the chasm between noise-drenched experimental trip-hop and ephemeral folktronica would be an unwise one to jump, however, in a city that thrives on ripping up the recipe book and creating its own musical flavours this agit-pop band has evolved into one of Liverpool’s best new acts
Stealing Sheep are an all girl band from Liverpool who are causing a real stir at present. They produce daring, edgy pop songs with wistful three part harmonies, psychedelic guitars, boomy drums and synths. Sitting somewhere inbetween sugar pop and doomy grunge. It's feisty and challenging but with catchy hooks and powerful choruses. These unconventional popsters are currently receiving peak-time airplay on XFM, BBC 2 & BBC 6music, and plays on Giles Peterson (most recently this week through Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne and Nemone. In short they are 'mazin!
'wow!' Gilles Peterson RADIO 1
“They have a bewitching quality. The harmonies are great” John Kennedy XFM
“What can I say? Everything sounds beautiful.” Alex Baker KERRANGRADIO
"60's psychedelia merged with an undeniably sweet and modern twist" Daniel Wray LOUD&QUIET
THEE SINGLE SPY
once were soft folk now they play rock and what a heady brew of rock they brew - one of our favorite bands to watch live - their show builds and builds and weaves a dark and yet still humorous story of London life - stories from the grey...
"Alex Mattinson’s rich baritone range has an elusive haunting quality that combines the best part of Nick Cave and Jeff Mangum; the previously unsung London has just been sung."
[THE LINE OF BEST FIT]
"Brilliantly well-crafted indie pop"
[JON HILCOCK, NME RADIO]
